Yen weakness and official responses
US President Donald Trump raised the yen’s weakness with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi as the currency neared 160 per dollar. The yen later headed for its biggest daily gain in more than two weeks after Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama commented on the currency.
