Forecast for a strong El Niño
The WMO warned that the El Niño event could become the strongest ever recorded, amid record-breaking Pacific heat highlighted by economist Sanjeev Sanyal. The IRI said it may become very strong in late 2026 and early 2027, raising risks for India.
