India’s CAFE-III rules for passenger vehicles

CAFE-III norms apply from April 1, 2027, requiring automakers to tighten average passenger-vehicle fleet fuel use over five years; the FY32 CO₂ target is 78.9 g/km, 16.7% tighter. Battery and range-extender EVs receive threefold credits, plug-in hybrids 2.5-fold, and small cars get no separate relief.
