Rupee near 97: Rupee faces multi-front pressure; SBI Research calls for immediate protective measures

The rupee is facing multi-front pressure from FPI outflows, stronger dollar demand and a sharp rise in global bond yields, with the currency nearing the 97-per-dollar mark. SBI Research said the RBI’s ability to intervene meaningfully and thwart speculative forces will be a key test as pressure on the currency intensifies.
